Michigan State Spartans upset No. 1 Duke Blue Devils

Sports is predicated on numbers. 68 and 67 for instance. No. 1 and No. 2 is another example. Twenty points and ten assists in 40 minutes.

But one thing that numbers can’t describe is heart and emotion, and the Michigan State Spartans displayed that on Friday.

Down 66-65 with time winding down, Kenny Goins hit one of the most clutch threes in the history of the program.

The game was tense throughout with both Cassius Winston and Zion Williamson dominating as expected. Winston played all 40 minutes and recorded twenty points and ten assists. Not to be outdone, Zion Williamson scored 24 and added 14 rebounds, but it was not enough for Duke.

RJ Barrett also had a good game(21 points), but it was his missed free throw with just seconds on the clock that will be remembered.

The Spartans now travel to Minneapolis for their 10th final four. The first time they’ve been back since 2015. They will face 3-seed Texas Tech who defeated the Wolverines on Thursday.
