One of the greatest collegiate basketball coaches in history has had yet another honor bestowed upon him.
Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo has been named the Big Ten coach of the decade, and his accomplishments in the past ten years made that an easy choice. Three Final Four appearances (2010, 2015 and 2019), 264 wins, four regular-season conference championships and four conference tournament titles.
But in his usual humble fashion, Izzo gave the credit to those around him.
“I’m greatly humbled and appreciative, because I know how many good coaches (are in the conference). … It makes me feel good,” Izzo said on Big Ten Network. “It makes me feel like I had a lot of good players…I always tell the players, ‘You help me, I help you,’” Izzo said. “Well, I think I helped some of them. I think a lot of them helped me, and that’s why I got this great award.”
We’re happy to see Izzo receive this well-deserved honor!
