Though the Michigan Wolverines basketball team dropped their regular season finale this afternoon to Maryland, they're looking forward to what's ahead.
Specifically, the postseason.
The Wolverines enter the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 9 seed, and they'll first go up against No. 8 Rutgers this Thursday, and will be looking for their third win against the Scarlet Knights this year.
And they feel as though they have the chance to do something, as they put it, “special”.
“We have a new season,” freshman Franz Wagner said. “0-0. We have a chance to do something special.”
They finished with a 19-12 overall record, with a 10-10 mark in conference play. However, they believe they're better than their record indicates.
“I think we’re better than 10-10,” Wagner said. “Some games we gave away that we didn’t have to give away, but at the same time, we still lost all those team games, so yeah you just gotta own it. We made a lot of mistakes during the season, but now we have a chance to win a championship, so everybody should be happy about that.”
“I think we can play with any team in the league,” he continued. “But we've got to be more consistent.”
Thursday's game against Rutgers will tip-off at noon.
