This Labor Day weekend could be the greatest kickoff to a college football regular season ever. Understanding that many college football fans were tired of the top teams in the country opening the season against 50-point underdogs, the NCAA has been pushing schools and conferences to create marquee match-ups to serve as big events to help kick off the season in style.

There are some huge games slated to kick off the season on Labor Day weekend, including the Michigan Wolverines playing the Florida Gators at AT & T Stadium, which is better known as Jerry World, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Some might say that is a “super” way to start the season, and the folks at ESPN and Marvel Comics agree. Marvel created a series of comic book covers for ESPN & ABC’s biggest opening weekend college football games. Each cover features original art with each team’s mascot as a superhero.

The series features six covers that will actually be available for purchase at comic book stores nationwide. The others depict Ohio State vs. Indiana (well, they can’t all be winners); Florida State against Alabama; Brigham Young taking on Louisiana State; West Virginia vs. Virginia Tech; and Tennessee going against Georgia Tech.

The “Mighty Wolverines” kick off against the “Gatormen” September 2 at 3:30 Eastern.
