After the transfer of Dylan McCaffrey, the most important position for the Michigan Wolverines heading into the 2020 campaign appears to be Joe Milton‘s to lose.
Milton, who spent part of the offseason working with private quarterback coaches, has caught the attention of offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, who lauded Milton’s talent and work ethic.
“Joe’s got a special talent,” Gattis said. “He’s a quarterback that’s blessed with a tremendous skillset. He has every throw in the bag plus the extra club that you don’t necessarily need to carry all the time.”
So much so, Gattis wants to throw Milton into the mix of category of most improved player.
“If you said who’s probably one of the most improved players on the team, obviously I would like to throw Joe in that mix,” Gattis said. “I don’t want to just say that from physical standpoint, because when we’re talking about improvement, improvement comes from a number of different ways. Leadership, physically and then being able to learn the offense — and Joe’s been exceptional.
The Wolverines open their 2020 season on October 24 against Minnesota.
