Sherrone Moore Returns to the Sidelines

This game marks the return of head coach Sherrone Moore, who served a two-game suspension. In his absence, associate head coach Biff Poggi followed Moore’s plan and guided the Wolverines to back-to-back wins, keeping the program steady. Moore’s return comes at a critical moment, as Michigan tries to build momentum before the toughest stretch of its Big Ten schedule.

Series History Favors Michigan

Michigan and Wisconsin have met 70 times, with the Wolverines holding a commanding 52-17-1 series lead. Michigan has also been dominant in homecoming games, carrying a 95-27 all-time record and winning 48 of the last 55 since 1968.

The most recent meeting came in 2021, when Michigan rolled into Madison and handled the Badgers 38-17. But the last time these two met in Ann Arbor, in 2020, Wisconsin embarrassed Michigan with a 49-11 blowout. Saturday gives the Wolverines a chance to settle that score in front of a packed homecoming crowd.

The Wolverines enter as heavy favorites, but Big Ten matchups aren’t always predictable.

Key Players to Watch

Michigan Wolverines

  • RB Justice Haynes– A breakout freshman, Haynes has rushed for over 100 yards in every game this season. He sits sixth nationally with 537 rushing yards (8.1 YPC) and six touchdowns. His explosive plays have been game-changers.
  • QB Bryce Underwood– The freshman QB has been poised, throwing for 733 yards and adding a 37-yard scoring run, the longest by a Michigan quarterback since 2018.
  • LB Ernest Hausmann– Michigan’s defensive anchor with 29 tackles already this season. Expect him to be all over Wisconsin’s rushing attempts.

Wisconsin Badgers

  • QB Danny O’Neil– The Badgers’ quarterback has 640 passing yards and five touchdowns. He’ll need a clean game against Michigan’s pass rush.
  • LB Christian Alliegro– Wisconsin’s leading tackler with 19 stops. His ability to slow Haynes and the Wolverines’ ground attack could determine the Badgers’ chances.

Road Closures & Game Day Traffic

Getting to Michigan Stadium this Saturday will require some extra planning. Various lane closures will once again be in effect around the stadium on home game days to improve security and pedestrian safety. These closures will be active three hours before kickoff until the end of the game (except for southbound South Main Street, which closes one hour before kickoff):

  • East Keech Street between South Main Street and Greene Street; access limited to parking permit holders only
  • Westbound right-turn lane on East Stadium Boulevard onto South Main Street (just south of the stadium)
  • South Main Street between Pauline Boulevard and East Stadium Boulevard

Additional Nearby City Closures

Several nearby construction projects could further impact travel:

State Street between South University and East William Street
Closed for ongoing watermain and resurfacing work through November 14, 2025. Traffic is detoured via Hill Street, South Forest Avenue, and Washtenaw Avenue.

What’s at Stake

Homecoming always brings an electric energy to Ann Arbor, and this year the Wolverines enter as strong favorites with one of the best rushing attacks in the country. With Sherrone Moore back on the sidelines and Justice Haynes running hot, Michigan will look to make a statement against Wisconsin.
