Former Michigan Wolverines Chris Webber, Rudy Tomjanovich up for Basketball Hall of Fame

After compiling impressive collegiate and professional basketball careers, Chris Webber and Rudy Tomjanovich are finalists to be enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

During his time as a Wolverine, Tomjanovich was a terrific scorer. He played forward in Ann Arbor and scored 1,808 points and had 1,039 rebounds. Tomjanovich was the team’s leading scorer for each of his three collegiate seasons.

As a professional, Tomjanovich had a solid playing career averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds per game. He truly made his mark as the coach of the Houston Rockets. During his tenure, the Rockets were NBA Champions in 1995 and 1996.

Webber will best be remembered as part of the Fab 5 at University of Michigan. The power forward from Detroit, Michigan was a key component to that collection of players. He and his teammates shocked the college basketball world and participated in back to back National Championship games in 1992 and 1993.

As a pro, Webber was a 5-time All-Star and #1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. He had the most success as a passing big man in Sacremento. Webber did return home and played for the Detroit Pistons later in his career. Here’s a highlight video showcasing his game-changing skills.

Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will be announced on April 3, 2017, in Phoenix, Arizona.
