Michigan Basketball can punch their ticket to the Final Four with a victory over Florida State, and their fellow Wolverines are following them all the way. Michigan Football wasn’t distracted by Friday being the first day of spring practice, and had plenty to say about the maize and blue on the hardwood.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh, for instance, had high praise and even thinks the Wolverines could have beaten the pros.

“Oh my gosh, the beasts,” Harbaugh exclaimed. “They’re beasts. I don’t think I’m going too far out on a limb here, but the way the team played the other night, they could have beat the Los Angeles Lakers.”

The Wolverines soundly defeated Texas A&M from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday by a 99-72 final.

“So exciting,” Harbaugh continued. “And great inspiration, too. It looked like they were playing with seven players (on the floor) and they were playing with five players. I don’t know too much about basketball, but it just had that feel.”

Former Michigan linebacker Mike McCray, who took part in the team’s pro-day, had an amusing story to tell about watching Jordan Poole’s miraculous last second shot to defeat Houston to advance the Wolverines to the Sweet Sixteen.

“I jumped up and was like screaming,” McCray said. “My dog jumped up barking. My fiance woke up scared, thinking something had happened. It was crazy.”

He’s also hoping the Wolverines will defeat Florida State and avenge their loss to the Seminoles on the gridiron in the Orange Bowl in late 2016.

“They’ve got to get revenge for beating us,” McCray said.

Former quarterback John O’Korn, who started his career at Houston, was grateful for Poole’s winning shot and even texted him afterwards to say as much.

“I never would have lived that down, if Jordan didn’t hit that shot,” O’Korn said. “I was very happy watching the game (Thursday) night. And probably could have gotten a little more sleep before pro day.”
