Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and AD Warde Manuel have both been very clear that they would meet to discuss a potential contract extension when the Wolverines’ season came to an end.
Well, barring an unlikely bowl game, Michigan’s season is over and according to a report from Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News, Harbaugh and Manuel are meeting on Thursday to discuss the coach’s future.
“With Michigan’s football season officially complete and Early Signing Day for recruits a wrap, the next step, a big one, is now being addressed.
Speculation regarding Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh’s future ramped up in recent weeks as the Wolverines slogged through a 2-4 season that ended with three straight COVID-19-related cancellations. Harbaugh has coached six seasons at Michigan, his alma mater, and his contract expires after the 2021 season.
UM athletic director Warde Manuel and Harbaugh were meeting Thursday to discuss Harbaugh’s future at Michigan, a source told The Detroit News on the condition of anonymity. It is unclear how quickly they will reach a resolution.”
