The Michigan Wolverines earned themselves a big victory on the road last weekend, taking down the Minnesota Golden Gophers 49-24 to capture the Little Brown Jug.

Meanwhile, it was the exact opposite story for the Michigan State Spartans, as they were felled by Rutgers in a stunning upset. Seven turnovers doomed the Spartans, who became the first Big Ten team that Rutgers was able to defeat since 2017.
The in-state rivals will meet this weekend from The Big House in Ann Arbor.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh met with media members this afternoon virtually, previewing the upcoming matchup which will be his first against new head coach Mel Tucker. Harbaugh started with his belief that the Spartans won’t be as careless with the ball this time around:
“Obviously new staff,” Harbaugh began. “Wouldn’t expect there to be that many turnovers the next time they play – that obviously hurt them very badly.”
Despite the fact that fans won’t be in the stands, Harbaugh still views this matchup as being “for the state championship”:
“It’s different, but it’s still a game,” he said. “The red blood is pumping. It’ll be pumping for both sides in this game.”
As far as the quarterback matchup between Joe Milton and Rocky Lombardi, Harbaugh is expecting both players to be up for it:
“They’ve both seen it up close,” he said. “They both have a really good understanding of it.”
The Wolverines and Spartans will get underway Saturday shortly after 12:00 PM EST.
