It’s been a rough season so far for future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera. Through 25 games, the Detroit Tigers DH was hitting just .176 with four home runs and 11 RBIs.
On Sunday, Miggy added to that RBI total in the top of the first inning when he hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Victor Reyes. Then in the fifth, Cabrera picked up his second RBI of the game when he singled in the top of the sixth inning, scoring Reyes for a second time.
With the two RBIs, Cabrera now has 1,707, which according to ESPN, times him with Adrian Beltre for No. 21 on the all-time list.
Up next is David Ortiz, who holds the No. 20 spot with 1,768 RBIs in his career. It looks like Cabrera will have to wait until the 2021 season to catch Big Papi.
