Miguel Cabrera may not care about starting in the All-Star Game, but if voting ended today he would be doing just that. The latest voting totals have been released and Cabrera has taken the lead on fellow first baseman Eric Hosmer of the Kansas City Royals. Not only has Miggy taken the lead, but he now has 9,342,149 votes to Hosmer’s 8,013,745.
It looks like the Detroit Tigers fans have spoken in a big way as Cabrera picked up over 4 million votes in the past week compared to 2.2 million for Hosmer.
In addition to Cabrera taking the lead, Jose Iglesias sits in second place for shortstop votes but is about 2.6 million votes behind Alcides Escobar of the Royals. He will need a big push if he wants to pass Escobar.
Tigers right fielder Yoenis Cespedes has also made a move and sits fourth on the list of outfielders, about 1.88 million votes behind Alex Gordon of the Royals.
