97.1 The Ticket radio host Mike Valenti has had plenty of issues with the Detroit Lions over the years. Following Sunday’s disappointing home loss to the Seattle Seahawks, they were once again the target of his wrath.
In this edition of Mike’s latest on-air beatdowns, he wonders aloud how the Lions are even able to retain a fan base at this point.
“I don’t get it,” he said Monday. “I really don’t. Because the minute you start to believe in them and go, ‘Jeeze, they’re .500, got a little shot. They’re at home. Seattle’s not that good. They should be all right … No … They got butchered yesterday.
“If you want to get fooled, I can’t save you,” he added. “You are too dumb to be saved.”
He then likened the relationship the Lions have with their fans to physical abuse.
“I don’t want to hear it anymore, I’m tired,” he added. “They’ve never done anything, ever. They get fans excited just to turn and kick them down the stairs.

As the NFL trade deadline approaches, it remains to be seen if the Lions will be buyers, sellers, or if they will just stick with that they have.
One Lions player who has been mentioned on and off when it comes to potential trade candidates is Golden Tate. Tate has been the Lions most consistent receiver on the team since the start of the 2014 season but he is also in the final year of his contract.
So the question is, are the Lions set on bringing Tate back for the 2019 season or would they rather try and trade him now to accumulate some draft capital?
