For the past three seasons, Ron Gardenhire has been the manager of the Detroit Tigers. But prior to his time in Detroit, Gardy managed the Minnesota Twins for 13 years.
On Friday, Gardenhire and the Tigers were in Minnesota to begin a rare 5-game series against the Twins and his former team decided to have a little bit of fun by placing a cardboard cutout of their former manager directly behind home plate.
If you tuned in (or are still tuning in to the game) on Fox Sports Detroit, you can see that Gardy's cardboard cutout is strategically placed behind home plate next to a group of characters from Peanuts.
“Somebody sent me a picture of me,” Gardenhire said of his cardboard cutout at Target Field. “It looked like I was hiding, which is a good thing. But I know it’s somewhere near our dugout.”
Well played, Twins!
There are TWO Gardys at this ballgame. It's like they always say, may you live to see TWO Gardys at the ballgame. #DetroitRoots pic.twitter.com/eppril1Vdu
