For Major League Baseball fans hoping to see some progress today on the standoff between the owners and MLBPA that’s already canceled the first two series of the season for each team, prepare for some more disappointment.
According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, there was almost no progress made in the meeting today between the two sides.
“Almost no progress made today on another deadline day,” he wrote on social media. “Union moved slightly on CBT (now $12M apart in year 5) and bonus pool (still far apart) but they r not close. MLB may make another counter offer today but hard to see deal getting done today. Cancellation of more games looms.”

Had a deal been able to have been reached today, the players would have reported for Spring Training this weekend, with a full 162 game schedule on deck. However, it appears as though more game cancellations are on the way.
The lockout has now reached day no. 98.
