When former Detroit Lions safety Quandre Diggs was traded to the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the week for a fifth-round draft pick, it caught almost everyone off guard.

It also upset quite a few people, including some fans and current Lions’ players.
One Lions’ player who was clearly upset is CB Darius Slay, who immediately took to Twitter to voice his displeasure with the trade.

Even after having a couple of days to digest that Diggs was no longer his teammate, Slay was still fired up and made that clear when he was asked by reporters about the trade.

Detroit Lions’ CB Darius Slay on potentially being traded: ‘Doesn’t matter where I’m at’
Ever since Slay’s comments, there has been speculation that he will be the next to be traded by Lions GM Bob Quinn.
On Saturday, Kyle Meinke posted a piece for MLive where he answers questions from some of his readers.
When answering the questions, Meinke did not hesitate to give his opinion that Slay does not seem to be fully buying in with what head coach Matt Patricia and the Lions are trying to do.
From MLive:
“I will say this, though. Slay is a great player, and the Lions aren’t just going to part with him because he spoke up. But I will also say this: Detroit is trying to build a locker room that has 100% buy in, and Slay’s comments certainly don’t reflect that ethos. If there comes a day when his exit offers more value than his presence, then I can see him getting shown the door too.
Then again, as we saw with the Quandre Diggs trade, nobody is truly safe. And that’s especially true for a player who seems to be only half-in to what the team is trying to do.
Great player? Absolutely. But a Matt Patricia kind of guy? I don’t know. I don’t know if a Patriots Way kind of guy stands in front of 20 microphones and openly questions the loyalty of his team (along with every other team in the league) and repeatedly says he doesn’t care whether he stays or goes. I still think he’s too good of a value to part with, but a loss on Sunday — essentially eliminating Detroit from realistic contention for the playoffs — would drive up those odds.”
Nation, do you agree with Meinke that Slay is not 100% bought-in to what the Lions are trying to do?
Personally, I believe Meinke is full of it. Slay may be upset with some of the decisions made by management, but he has always given 100% to help his team win football games and he will continue to do that for as long as he is in Detroit.
