Petr Mrazek’s play over the last 11 games with Jimmy Howard on the sidelines has earned him the opportunity to stay up with the team for the time being. According to MLive.com’s Ansar Khan, Mrazek will be here for at least the weekend.
Babcock said Mrazek will back-up Howard tomorrow vs. Jets. They'll take it day by day after that, so no decision yet on if he'll go to GR.

Mrazek went 9-2 over this period and in his 20 appearances (16 starts) this season, he has a 2.55 GAA and .909 save percentage. The 22-year old goalie will most likely have to be sent down to Grand Rapids at some point unless Jonas Gustavsson is dealt at the trade deadline but he has made a very good case to stay with the Red Wings as Jimmy Howard’s back up.
“I don’t know how you send the guy down,” Quincey said. “He just doesn’t lose. He’s played unbelievable for us. He plays the puck exceptionally well and makes our job easier. I can’t say enough good things about him.”
Do you think the Red Wings should keep Mrazek up or send him to Grand Rapids so that he can continue to start and work on his game?
