LOOK: “Spirit of Detroit” goes ‘Green and White’ for MSU

It’s good to be green, and apparently the City of Detroit agrees! Michigan State announced on Sunday evening that the famous “Spirit of Detroit” statue in Downtown Detroit will wear a massive Michigan State Spartan football jersey for the holiday season. On Monday morning, crews put the jersey on the statue and boy does it look sweet! Check it out below.

The statue, which was dedicated in 1958, has often worn jerseys of Detroit teams such as the Pistons, Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers, but this is the first time it’s donned the Green and White of Michigan State.

Michigan State finished as the #3 seed in the College Football Playoff rankings and will take on the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide on New Years Eve in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl for a chance to play in the National Championship Game. Combine the success the MSU Football team has had with the current success the #1 Spartan basketball team is having, and it’s easy to see why it’s an amazing time to be a Spartan.

Go Green!
