MSU’s Denzel Valentine undergoes knee surgery, expected to miss 2-3 weeks

Tom Izzo and the undefeated and top-ranked Michigan State Spartans will be without their best player, Denzel Valentine, for 2-3 weeks following an injury he suffered in practice on Sunday night.

Izzo announced on Monday morning that Valentine had arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage on the knee on Monday morning.

“He was crushed last night when we found out, late last night, but at the same time, we’re just going to have to learn. This will be a new challenge, a new chapter for us.” Izzo said.

Through 12 games, Valentine has averaged 18.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7 assists.

The Spartans will face Oakland University on Tuesday at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Tuesday night.
