There is no question about it that the Detroit Lions need help on the defensive line, especially when it comes to rushing the passer. Well, they may have found just what the doctor ordered.
On Wednesday, news broke the Lions had claimed veteran defensive end Dwight Freeney off waivers. Freeney was placed on waivers by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, despite him picking up three sacks in four games.

As soon as Lions fans started to catch wind of their team’s newest addition, Twitter exploded. Some tweeted messages of excitement and hope, while others sent messages saying Freeney is too old and washed up.
But the one tweet that really caught our attention is the one sent by Freeney himself. As you can see below, the future Hall of Famer is “completely confused” by what has transpired over the past couple of days.
Completely confused to be in this situation but excited for the future.

To be fair, Freeney did record three sacks in his first four games in Seattle before being placed on waivers and he probably thought he would remain with the team for the remainder of the season. As noted in the tweet, though, he is excited about what the future brings for him as a member of the Detroit Lions.
He followed that tweet up by reminding us all that this is not his first opportunity to play for Jim Caldwell.
Can’t wait to unite with my former head coach Jim Caldwell and play for the @Lions!! #reunion #letsgetit

Most Lions fans seem to be elated with the signing and look forward to watching Freeney wreak havoc (at least to some extent) in the opponent’s backfield while wearing the Honolulu blue and silver.
Now, if Bob Quinn would just bring in CB Jalen Collins to solidify the secondary, we would be VERY Thankful!
