On Monday night, Justin Verlander returned home to Comerica Park to take on his former team, the Detroit Tigers.

Prior to Verlander taking the mound, the Tigers played a tribute video on the scoreboard which had JV pushing back tears.

Justin Verlander talks about special bond with Tigers’ fans

Monday night in downtown Detroit has the makings of something very special. Not only will the Detroit Lions host the New York Jets at Ford Field but it will also mark the return of Justin Verlander to Comerica Park as he and the Houston Astros will take on the Detroit Tigers.

During his 13 years in Detroit, Verlander and Tigers fans developed a bond that is still strong. It’s a bond that remains special to him. On Sunday, Verlander posted a video message to his fans in Detroit.

Over the course of 13 seasons, Justin Verlander gave his all each and every time he took the mound with the hopes of leading the Detroit Tigers to a World Series championship. Now, JV is coming home.
