I have to admit that I decided to go to bed last night after Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander gave up two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to put the Los Angeles Dodgers up 3-1 in Game 2 of the World Series. After all, the Dodgers bullpen was not going to blow the lead, right?

Wrong!

When I woke up this morning and hopped on Twitter, I quickly realized that I ended up missing the Astros comeback and eventual win in the 11th inning. Oops!

Verlander may have been taken out of the game after giving up the two runs in the sixth but he was not done trying to lead his Astros teammates to a come-from-behind victory.

Watch as the former Detroit Tigers MVP was caught on camera trying to motivate his teammates to make a comeback.

From the Detroit Free Press:

“I just wanted to really remind these guys how great they are,” Verlander told reporters after the game. “I’ve pitched against them, I know how good they are. It doesn’t matter how good a pitcher you are, this lineup can hurt you so quickly. And I guess maybe that was just my message, is stay positive. Remember how good you are. And just play the game.”

Teammates backed him up.

“He said, ‘Let’s go, let’s go, let’s keep scoring runs. We can do this,’ ” Astros shortstop Carlos Correa told reporters.

With the win, that Astros and Dodgers are now tied at a game apiece with Game 3 set to take place in Houston on Friday night.
