The Petr Mrazek era in Detroit officially came to a close around 10 p.m. on Monday night. He was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers, who needed help in the crease following injuries to both Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth.

In return for Mrazek, the Red Wings receive no less than a 4th round draft pick. If the Flyers qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs and Mrazek wins at least five games for them in the regular season, the 4th round pick automatically becomes a 3rd round pick. If the Flyers advance to the Eastern Conference Finals and Mrazek wins six playoff games, the 3rd becomes a 2nd.

Lastly, if the Flyers were to re-sign Mrazek this summer, the Red Wings would also receive a 3rd round pick in 2019.

Check out some of his top highlights in the Red Wings crease:

Originally drafted in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Mrazek showed flashes of brillaince with the Red Wings but was never fully able to consistently maintain it. He won the starting job over Jimmy Howard for the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, a seven-game series loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He began last season in the starting position, but continued to be inconsistent. That, combined with a resurgence from Howard, never led Detroit management to trade the latter as many thought would happen.

He signed a two-year bridge style deal in 2016, avoiding arbitration. However, there were rumors of poor attitude and work ethic, which many feel is the reason why the team left him exposed this past summer for the expansion draft for the Vegas Golden Knights. This year, Mrazek has compiled a 8-7 record with a .910 SV% and a goals-against-average of 2.89

Only time will tell if the Red Wings made the right decision in sticking with Howard rather than Mrazek.
