Monday night in downtown Detroit has the makings of something very special. Not only will the Detroit Lions host the New York Jets at Ford Field but it will also mark the return of Justin Verlander to Comerica Park as he and the Houston Astros will take on the Detroit Tigers.
During his 13 years in Detroit, Verlander and Tigers fans developed a bond that is still strong. It’s a bond that remains special to him. On Sunday, Verlander posted a video message to his fans in Detroit.
From MLB.com:
“I try to not expect anything,” Verlander said. “I know that those fans know I gave everything I had for a long time, for the better part of 13 years there. Blood, sweat, tears, every ounce of effort I possibly could to help bring a championship to that city. The love they’ve shown me has been spectacular throughout my whole career.”
JV admitted that he does not know what feelings to expect when he takes the mound tonight.
