Prior to Friday's game between the Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals, Tigers' DH Victor Martinez announced that he would play the final game of his career on Saturday at Comerica Park.

Before the game, Martinez chatted with fans, signed autographs, and even posed for a few photos.
The game itself did not go exactly how V-Mart or the Tigers would have like as they fell to the Royals 4-3. Following the game, Martinez spoke to the media about playing in his final games and about Tigers' fans.
Victor Martinez on the fans "over the years we've had some stuff but they all have the right to get mad. For a family to come here and watch ballgames they have to spend a certain amount of money, they have the right to get mad when we play bad and let us know"

more Martinez on fans"they've been great, all this time I've been here they've been great. I want to thank them a lot because they make me a better person, a better player because I know I have to come back the next year stronger because I know they'll let me know when I play bad

Martinez was touched to see the fans give him ovations tonight "to see that tonight is just another sign of how good they've been all these years, it's been great"

Martinez on fans booing teams that underperformed "somebody said the truth hurts, you have to be man enough to accept it. When the fans let you know that the whole team is playing bad or you personally you want to fix that, if you want them to applaud then do good. Simple as that

When will the Detroit Lions win their first game?
When first evaluating the Detroit Lions 2018 schedule prior to the start of the season, there is no way I would have ever predicted that I would be writing a piece like this. After all, the Lions opened the season at home against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. It seemed like the perfect scenario for a team that had just hired a new head coach. And that scenario seemed to improve even more when the Jets revealed they would be starting rookie quarterback Sam Darnold in their season opener.
Unfortunately, Lions’ Nation was completely blindsided when the Jets ran away with a 48-17 win. The loss not only shocked the fans but cause many of them to completely freak out on the team. Some blamed Bob Quinn, some blamed Matt Patricia, and some blamed our best player, Matthew Stafford. The Lions were thought of as a lock to start the season 1-0 and they blew it.
In Week 2, it was more of the same as the San Francisco 49ers jumped out to a huge lead on the Lions before holding on for a 30-27 win. The loss not only dropped the Lions to 0-2 but with a tough schedule staring them in the face, many fans are wondering, when will they get their first win of the season?
