When Justin Verlander was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Houston Astros just moments before the Major League Trade deadline this past season, many Tigers fans immediately started rooting for JV to win a World Series in a uniform other than what he was used to wearing.
But not many folks gave Verlander some extra incentive to win a ring like WXYZ sports reporter Justin Rose did in mid-October. As you can see below, on October 13th, Rose tweeted out a video promising to eat a 5-year old box of ‘Fastball Flakes’ if Verlander won a World Series with the Astros.

As we know, Verlander and his Houston Astros teammates took care of business by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in an epic 7-game series.
Well, it may have taken a while, but Rose followed through with his promise by eating the 5-year old cereal, which happens to have a photo of Verlander on the front of the box.
Watch as Rose, who happens to be one of our favorites here at DSN, reluctantly scarfs down the cereal!

There’s something to be said for greatness. Whatever the purpose and action of that greatness might be, it should be honored. All through the 80’s and into the 90’s Detroit Tiger fans were treated to greatness in the form of Lou Whitaker. Yet, for some unknown reason, the Tigers cannot seem to bring themselves to honor him.
