Talk about a Sunday to remember at Comerica Park!
The Detroit Tigers looked like they were heading for a frustrating loss against the Chicago White Sox, trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning. But then, in stepped Spencer Torkelson — and let’s just say, the former No. 1 overall pick reminded everyone why he’s considered the heart of this Tigers lineup.
With the bases juiced and Tigers fans on the edge of their seats, Torkelson smashed a rocket of a double down the left-field line, clearing the bases and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Tigers win, 4-3. The clutch walk-off hit not only gave Detroit the series win but also pushed the Tigers above .500 for the first time this season at 5-4.
Celebration, Detroit Style
But the best part? The celebration.
As Torkelson stood near second base soaking in the moment, teammates sprinted onto the field to mob him — but instead of just water or Gatorade, they showered him in baby powder. Yes, baby powder. A cloud of white surrounded Torkelson, who was grinning ear-to-ear as he was swallowed up by the group hug. Note: The Tigers did end up giving Tork a Gatorade Bath during his post-game interview!

It was a chaotic, hilarious, and perfectly Detroit moment. And fans are loving every second of it.
What’s Next
With the win in the books, the Tigers will carry some serious momentum into their next series — a three-game showdown with the New York Yankees starting Monday night. If Torkelson and the bats stay hot, Detroit just might be ready to make a little early-season noise in the American League.
Baseball is fun again in Detroit.
