National writer rips the Detroit Lions for Quandre Diggs trade

The Detroit Lions stunned not only the football world but their own players when they decided to unceremoniously ship safety and team captain Quandre Diggs out of town – shortly after he had just signed a three-year extension with the team.

Diggs has already made an immediate impact with the Seahawks, helping them defeat the Philadelphia Eagles to improve to 9-2 on the season and earning high praise from head coach Pete Carroll.

The move once again drew the ire of veteran NBC sports writer Peter King, who still doesn’t understand why the team made the move.

“I think, speaking of Detroit, someday I’d like to figure out why they traded one of the game’s most underrated players, safety Quandre Diggs, to Seattle for a fifth-round pick last month. Bizarre trade then, and now. “He helps other players,” Pete Carroll said Sunday after Diggs played a big role in the Seattle win at Philadelphia. “Guys around him play better.”

The Seahawks are riding high, while the Detroit Lions just dropped a game this weekend to the 1-9 Washington Redskins. Bizarre trade indeed.
