The Michigan State Spartans and their fans have yet another reason to gloat over their rivals from Ann Arbor. Now that the new Associated Press College Football poll has been released for this week, the Michigan Wolverines find themselves one spot lower in the Top 25 than their sibling rivals from East Lansing.

With their recent three-point survival victory (that margin of victory is classified as a blowout by Spartan Nation) over the University of Minnesota this past Saturday, MSU sits at #18 in the new poll. Apparently, that was good enough for a 3-spot jump in the polls from #21 last week. Next up for the Spartans is the mighty Hoosiers of Indiana.

Wolverines fans raised their heads from another collective double facepalm to watch the Maize and Blue eek out an overtime win against the Indiana Hoosiers. That was good for a 2-spot drop in the polls from #17 to #19. Michigan travels to Happy Valley next week for a date with media darling and new #2 Penn State.

Michigan’s opponent for this coming Saturday, Penn State University, continued their meteoric rise up the polls all the way to #2. That puts the Nittany Lions one spot behind perennial leader and powerhouse Alabama (tired of them yet?). The Georgia Bulldogs moved up one spot to #3 overall and TCU finally got some love for the Big 12 this week as they round out the top teams at #4.

The Big Ten is still well represented this week with Wisconsin at #5 and Ohio State at #6. Clemson dropped 5 spots from #2 all the way to #7 after a disastrous loss over the weekend.

  1. Eke out a victory. Although it was scary, so eek! works too. :) Sorry, always a writer/editor. Love my Wolverines!
