The Detroit Lions were able to add further depth to their defensive corps with the signing of former Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Mike Daniels to a one-year contract.
What was the major selling point aside from staying within the division? Playing for head coach Matt Patricia.
“Coach Patricia, straight up,” he answered when asked why he chose the Lions. “He’s just a genius, he really is. He understands the game of football, he knows what it takes. To be able to play for a coach like that, it means everything.”

Daniels apparently also had offers from over a dozen NFL teams, at least four of which were willing to pay him more than the $9.1 million he signed for with Detroit.
