In case you have not already heard, the NFL had made the decision to play a 17-game regular-season schedule beginning in 2021.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the extra game will be added by doing a 1-game crossover (1 v. 1, 2 v. 2, etc.)
- NFC East vs. AFC East
- NFC North vs. AFC West
- NFC South vs. AFC South
- NFC West vs. AFC North

Full crossover: NFC East/AFC West, NFC North/AFC North, NFC South/AFC East, NFC West, AFC South.

With the Detroit Lions already securing last place in the NFC North, they will square off against either the Denver Broncos or the Los Angeles Chargers, depending on what happens in Week 17. As we speak, the Broncos are currently in last place in the AFC West with a 5-10 record, while the Chargers sit at 6-9.
