The Detroit Lions were active Monday morning, officially inking 2020 1st round draft pick Jeff Okudah to a four-year contract with club option for a 5th season.
The Lions envision Okudah to take a major role on the team’s defense after his years with the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he was named to the 2019 College Football All-America Team.
Once the deal became official, the newest official member of the Lions took to social media to post a message for the fans:
Okudah spoke shortly after being drafted by the team about his intention to earn their trust in him, and make them proud to have selected him 3rd overall.
“It’s a crazy feeling being drafted that high,” Okudah said. “The Detroit Lions think a lot about me, and I think it’s up to me to return that and give them all that I have and go to work every single day with my teammates and be the best player that I can be.”
We’re happy the deal is official, and can’t wait to see him take the field!
