For Detroit Lions fans who were hoping to see a change at the head coaching position after two underwhelming seasons with Matt Patricia, they were given their answer earlier this month – Patricia will be back for year three.
However, other NFL coaches weren't so fortunate.
The New York Giants have fired head coach Pat Shurmur, who compiled a 9-23 record the past two seasons. (Hmm, why do those numbers sound familiar?) However, they're retaining general manager Dave Gettleman.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns have delivered a pink slip to head coach Freddie Kitchens, who went 6-10 in his lone season on the job (Hmm….familiar as well….).

Of course, those numbers do indeed look familiar to Lions fans. Matt Patricia has compiled a 9-22-1 record in two years in Detroit; his first season on the job yielded a 6-10 result.
But don't worry – Martha Ford and Co. like the “foundation” they've built with Patricia leading the way.
