NFL to seek ‘significant’ suspension for Deshaun Watson

According to a report from the Washington Post, the National Football League will argue that Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson should receive a ‘significant’ suspension for the 2022 season.

The Washington Post is reporting that the NFL will likely seek to suspend Watson for the entire 2022 season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Watson, of course, is currently facing a whopping 24 civil lawsuits by women who are accusing him of sexual misconduct.

NFL to seek ‘significant’ suspension for Deshaun Watson

Though two grand juries in Texas did not charge Deshaun Watson with any crimes, there is no question about it that he is still in some pretty hot water.

From Washington Post:

The NFL will argue that Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson should receive a “significant” suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, multiple people familiar with the case said Friday.

The league “probably” will seek a suspension of one full season for Watson, a person on Watson’s side of the case said Friday. A person familiar with the league’s view of the case cautioned to be “careful” about specifying a precise length at this point for the suspension the NFL will seek. But that person also said: “Significant would be the proper term.”

Two days ago, Watson maintained his claim that he never assaulted anyone.

“No, like I said I never assaulted anyone,” Watson said Tuesday, following the Browns’ first of three scheduled minicamp practices this week. “I never harassed anyone. I never disrespected anyone. I never forced anyone to do anything.”

Watson also said he does not know if the report from the New York Times which said he hired at least 66 different women between the fall of 2019 and the spring of 2021 for massage therapy sessions is accurate.

“I don’t think so from what me and my attorneys went through,” Watson said, “but at the same time that’s more of a legal question that I can’t really get into details about.”

Nation, what do you think the NFL should do about this situation?
