On June 21, the 2019 NHL Draft will get underway and the Detroit Red Wings will have an important decision to make.
Barring a trade, the Red Wings will select No. 6 in the 1st Round and though they wonโt be able to get Jack Hughes or Kaapo Kakko as they will almost certainly be selected with the first two picks, there will be a few solid players available.

One of those players is forward Cole Caufield, who just so happens to be one of best goal scorers in the entire draft.
Though he is only 5-7, Caufield managed to score 72 goals in the U.S. National Team Development Program last season and he is confident he can be a force at the next level.
In fact, when Caufield was asked specifically about why the Chicago Blackhawks should select him at No. 3, his response was straight-forward.
โYouโll regret it if you donโt,โ he said.
When asked if that message also applied to the Red Wings, Caufield did not hesitate.
โYep,โ Caufield responded.
The 18-year-old described his game as one that does not force his to dominate the puck to make his team better.
From Detroit Free Press:
โIโm pretty good without the puck, thatโs what makes me so special,โ he said. โI donโt need the puck to have success. I think thatโs really hard in the game today โ most people that have success usually have the puck and I think Iโm different in that way, that I donโt need the puck to make other people around me better.โ
One thing is for sure, whoever does select Caufield in the 2019 NHL Draft will be getting one confident young man.
