Only in the NHL: ‘Mystery team’ wins 2020 Draft Lottery

Only in the NHL…

Well, the results are in and we now know which teams will have the top 8 picks of the 2020 NHL Draft…kind of. Actually, we only know picks 2-8 thanks to a mystery team (more on this in a moment) securing the No. 1 slot.

That’s right, hockey fans! On Friday night, the NHL Draft Lottery was held and as you can see below, the No. 1 spot in the draft will go to a team from the Qualifying Round in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Here’s your draft lottery order:

1 TBD
2 Kings
3 Senators (from Sharks)
4 Red Wings
5 Senators
6 Ducks
7 Devils
8 Sabres

The No. 1 pick will go to one of the 8 teams that lose in the Stanley Cup Qualifiers. Those teams all will have equal odds in Phase 2 of the lottery
