In Saturday’s game against the New York Mets, the Tigers plated five runs in the 4th inning, sending ten men to the dish in the process. One of those however, was third baseman Nick Castellanos who was hit on the left arm by Mets starter Logan Verrett.
Castellanos was visibly in pain after being plunked and he stayed in to run the bases. Unfortunately, that was the last he’d see of this game.
Nick Castellanos ran halfway to 3B after being hit by pitch on left arm. Still smarting as he takes lead off 1B.

Looks like that HBP was even worse than it looked for Castellanos, who's out. Mike Aviles enters at 3B. Little early for replacements.

Nick Castellanos left tonight's game with a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metacarpal of his left hand.

Apparently the word has spread down through the system and the Tigers have already found their replacement and know the severity of the injury.
.@MudHens have just taken Casey McGehee out of their game at Indianapolis. Assuming that is in response to Castellanos move w/ #Tigers.

According to a sports medicine doctor, a general recovery timetable for Castellanos' injury is 6-8 weeks.
