Wait, what? Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos no longer ‘Nick’

Hey, baseball fans, what is the name of the Detroit Tigers starting third baseman? If you answered “Nick Castellanos” you are incorrect.

On Monday, the Tigers announced Castellanos will now be going by his birth name, “Nicholas”, in all official ways, including when he is introduced to bat, listed on a scoresheet, or in any other pre or post game references.

When asked about the name change, he brushed it off.

From The Detroit News:

“Zero story,” Castellanos said Tuesday when asked why there had been a switch to his more formal name.

“Everybody calls Miguel Cabrera ‘Miggy,’ even though he’s Miguel Cabrera.

“The majority of time he’s still Miggy.”

As long as you are hitting and fielding, we will call you whatever you want to be called, Nicholas.
