Nick Fairley signs with Rams

Just days after the Lions and Nick Fairley had more or less agreed to part ways, the 27-year-old defensive linemen has found a new squad.

The St. Louis Rams have signed Fairley to a one-year deal that the NFL Network reports will be worth a base of $5 million with an extra $2.5 million in incentives laced alongside.

Drafted by the Lions 13th overall in 2011, Fairley registered 13.5 sacks in 46 career games in Detroit, though his health remained a constant point of concern throughout. While he did play in 15 of 16 games in 2013, he missed the final eight contests in 2014 after sustaining a knee injury.

Fairley’s departure now marks the second prominent member of the Lions’ defensive line to exit within the past week. Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh signed with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday.
