History was made this morning by the Detroit Red Wings with the announcement that Waterford, MI native Dylan Larkin will be the 37th captain of the 95 year old franchise.
Of course, the young captain has massive shoes to fill, as he's following in the footsteps of past team legends Steve Yzerman, Nicklas Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg.
One of the greatest defenseman in National Hockey League history, Lidstrom inherited the captaincy from Yzerman upon the latter's retirement in 2006, and held the honor for six seasons.
Lidstrom was among the first to congratulate the newest player to don the “C” for Detroit:
Congrats Dylan! Well deserved.

Not bad for a Michigan native who grew up cheering for not only Lidstrom, but past Red Wings legends like Yzerman and Zetterberg.
