The Notorious B.I.G died on March 9, 1997. 20 years after his death, Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond makes his rap debut in Detroit rapper Nate Nixen’s (I don’t know, either) new song.

As a true fan of hip hop, I can appreciate Andre’s effort because he’s not bad, honestly. The beat is supreme garbage, but as far as Drummond’s lyrical capacity goes, he’s definitely not getting confused for Biggie, but he is better than anybody still rocking “Lil'” in front of their name.
Drummond isn’t the first athlete to try his hand his rapping and he certainly won’t be the last, with how often rappers shout out ball players (think Jay-Z’s shout out of Allen Iverson in his beef with Nas), and the majority of NBA arena music being hip hop, the two cultures are heavily intertwined.
To anybody who may have a problem with Andre appearing in rap videos and doing anything that doesn’t involve basketball or free throws….. smarten up, Nas.
