The ink has hit the paper, and it’s now official: Detroit Tigers first round draft selection Spencer Torkelson is now officially a member of the team.
His $8,416,300 bonus is the highest bonus ever awarded to a player in MLB Draft history.
“That pressure drives me, makes me work harder,” Torkelson said during an interview after the draft. “I don’t let it faze me. It’s a privilege to be in the position I’m in.”
The Tigers Summer Camp officially kicks off on Wednesday, and Torkelson is expected to join his new teammates.
