On Deck: Detroit Tigers @ Kansas City Royals

The Detroit Tigers are streaking right now, and not in a good way. After winning three games in a row, the Tigers have now dropped nine of ten games, and are currently riding a four game losing streak. The only victory in that ten game stretch was Justin Verlander‘s near no-hitter against the Los Angeles Angels last Wednesday. Verlander will toe the slab tonight for the first time since that game, in hopes of breaking the Tigers out of one of their worst stretches of the season. It will be no easy task though, as Kansas City will send ace Johnny Cueto to the mound to counter.

Kansas City comes into play tonight with the most comfortable division lead out of any division leader. Their 13 game lead over second place Minnesota is the largest division lead by nine games. Kansas City also holds the lead for best record in the American League by a comfortable margin, having six more wins than second best Toronto. They come into play 30 games over the .500 mark, and have won seven of their last ten games. The Royals will send three of their best pitchers to the mound in this series in Cueto, Yordano Ventura, and Edinson Volquez.

Probable Pitching Matchups:

Game 1 (9/1/15; 8:10 PM): Justin Verlander (2-6, 3.45 ERA) vs. Johnny Cueto (9-9, 2.94 ERA)

Game 2 (9/2/15; 8:10 PM): Randy Wolf (0-2, 2.57 ERA) vs. Yordano Ventura (9-7, 4.41 ERA)

Game 3 (9/3/15; 8:10 PM): Matt Boyd (1-5, 7.12 ERA) vs. Edinson Volquez (12-7, 3.27 ERA)
