On Deck: Kansas City Royals @ Detroit Tigers

Despite deciding to sell at the trade deadline, the Detroit Tigers still find themselves in the thick of the wide open American League Wild Card race. The Tigers come into play tonight trailing in the second wild card race by 3 games. The race is currently in a three way tie between Baltimore, Minnesota, and Toronto. The Tigers remain 3 games below the .500 mark after a series split in Baltimore over the weekend. They are now 4-6 in their last ten games.

Kansas City comes into play with the most comfortable division lead out of all the division leaders. They currently lead second place Minnesota by 8.5 games, and their magic number to clinch the division sits at 50. Kansas City has not necessarily been blowing away the competition lately, as they are only 5-5 in their last ten games.

This is the third series of the season between the two clubs. Kansas City holds the overall edge in the seven games with a record of 4-3. The Tigers will get the pleasure of seeing new Kansas City ace Johnny Cueto in game two of the series.
