Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson was forced to leave Thursday night’s game against the Washington Capitals with what the team is calling an upper-body injury.

Ericsson was leveled behind the net by Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom and some are questioning whether the hit deserves supplemental discipline. You can be the judge for yourself:
Backstrom was assessed a 2-minute minor for boarding on the play while Ericsson will not return.
