Welp, that was fast.
Barely two weeks ago, former Michigan quarterback Devin Garder signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent.
On Monday afternoon, he was released.
The 6-foot-4, 216-pound Gardner was attempting to make the transition from college quarterback to NFL wideout during his brief time in New England. As a parting gift of sorts, Gardner is still due to receive the $5,000 signing bonus and the $10,000 in guaranteed money stemming from the original deal he inked ten days earlier.
Gardner threw for 6,336 yards, 44 touchdowns and 32 interceptions in 50 career games for the Wolverines. Playing behind the quick-footed quarterback Denard Robinson in 2012, Gardner made numerous appearances at wide receiver, catching 16 passes for 266 yards and four touchdowns.
