‘Perfect’ Detroit Lions 2021 Full NFL Mock Draft [Final Edition]

The 2021 NFL Draft is nearly here and it is time to take a look at what I believe would be the “perfect” mock draft for our Detroit Lions.

If you have been following along, you are well aware that I believe Lions’ GM Brad Holmes‘ ultimate goal should be to do whatever he can to trade the No. 7 overall pick to the highest bidder so that he can acquire more draft capital.

In my final “Perfect” 2021 NFL mock draft for the Lions, I have them doing just that as I was able to swing a trade with the New England Patriots.

Here is how that trade played out:

By making this trade, the Lions not only acquire two more picks in the 2021 draft but they also get the Patriots second-round pick in 2022. (I honestly think the Lions may be able to squeeze a bit more out of the Patriots if Justin Fields falls, but The Draft Network did not agree!)

The Lions need defense in the worst way and as you can see below, I have them taking LB Micah Parsons with the No. 15 overall pick. Parsons is a freak of nature and absolutely flys around the field. He does have some off-the-field issues from the past that the Lions will have to be comfortable with, but if they are, this would be a great value pick at No. 15.

In Round 2, I feel like I may have reached a tad by selecting S Jamar Johnson but I do believe he would be an immediate starter and is worth taking at this point.

In Round 3, I have the Lions snagging a couple of interesting players who could end up being part of the team’s future success. Those players are WR D’Wayne Eskridge, who is a speedy WR out of Western Michigan, and CB Benjamin St-Juste out of Minnesota. St-Juste is an interesting player in my opinion as he has good NFL size and length but whether or not he can be a shutdown cornerback will depend on how well he develops at the next level.

Now to the fourth round. I vowed that I would not have the Lions select a QB in the 2021 NFL Draft as I believe Jared Goff will be given every opportunity to lead the team into the future. That being said, if Stanford QB Davis Mills is available when the Lions are on the clock with the No. 101 pick, I think they should pull the trigger. I truly believe that Mills will end up being a better pro than a couple of QBs taken in the first round and he would be worth taking a flier on.

With their final three picks, I have the Lions taking defense, defense, and more defense with EDGE Cameron Sample (great value pick), DL Marvin Wilson (good potential here), and CB Ambry Thomas (amazing athlete who will play in the league for a long time).

Nation, what does your “Perfect” Detroit Lions 2021 NFL Draft look like?
