In 2014, the Lions won 11 games, mostly because of a dominant defense. The best player from that defense, Ndamukong Suh, is no longer with the team and the unit as a whole is expected by many to take a step back this year.

Martin Mayhew did his best to help the defense by trading for Haloti Ngata. Ngata should help out in a big way, but at 31-years-old he is not exactly the Lions’ defensive tackle of the future.

Insert Michael Bennett out of Ohio State. Bennett is 6-foot-2, 293 pounds and could make an immediate impact on the defensive line while learning the ropes from Ngata. The one knock on Bennett is he does not always give 100% on every play and that will have to change. Up to this point the Lions have not brought Bennett to Allen Park, but were in attendance for his pro day, so their interest may be questionable.

Perfect selection if Bennett is off the board: Quinten Rollins (CB) – Miami (OH) *Note: I absolutely love Rollins and his future.
