UPDATE:
On Sunday morning, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported that Matthew Stafford could be traded “in the coming days” and now Peter King is saying the trade could get “done by Tuesday, or earlier.”
Two people in the loop think a Stafford trade gets done by Tuesday, or earlier.
Not saying it will happen. Just passing on what I'm hearing while reporting and early-writing Monday's FMIA.— Peter King (@peter_king) January 31, 2021
PREVIOUS REPORT:
Who will Matthew Stafford be traded to and when will that trade happen?
Well, according to two high-profile NFL insiders, a deal for Stafford could be agreed upon very soon.
Both Adam Schefter and Albert Breer believe Stafford could be traded before the Super Bowl.
“I’ve always thought that the Matthew Stafford trade could get done by the Super Bowl.” Schefter said. “I always thought that. We are nine days away from the Super Bowl. They’ve been talking. So to me, it could happen at any point — today, tomorrow, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. But I don’t think that’s a February 26 deal, so to speak.”
I do believe the @Lions' intention is to move him before the Super Bowl. Interest during Senior Bowl week was strong.
I think they get a first-rounder, maybe that plus something else. https://t.co/DimUUsh1Dk
