Petr Mrazek named NHL’s 2nd Star of the Week

The Detroit Red Wings have had a heck of a week to start out their west coast road trip, working their way through California. Their road games started in the east, with wins against the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils. They then took the winged wheel out west to Cali, for a date with the San Jose Sharks, followed up by the Anaheim Ducks last night.

They won each of those four road games en route to their longest win-streak of the season (4), along the way complimenting Petr Mrazek’s amazing play to earn him the honor of the NHL’s 2nd Star of the Week for this past week.

He earned his 7th career shutout against the Devils in a 1-0 victory (22 saves), allowed 1 goal on 36 shots against the Sharks in a 2-1 win, and allowed 1 goal on 31 shots in the Wings’ 2-1 win over the Ducks last night. Over the last week he’s sported a .67 goals-against average, and a .978 save percentage with a 3-0-0 record.

He’s 15-8-3 on the season, with the 6th best SVP in the league at .930, and 10th best GAA at 2.16. Way to go, Petr!
